THE ABC
AIRCRAFT WELDING STORY
Don Duryea has always liked working with his hands and building things. It seems to run in his blood. Maybe this has something to do with it. If you go to this >>link about inventors<<, you will learn a little American history that you probably didn’t know. These are a few of Don’s ancestors.
Don is known for thinking outside the box. He gladly accepts the most challenging welding and fabrication projects. Don has an extensive back ground in aircraft welding, rebuilding, modifying, and sheet metal work. Don has rebuilt, repaired and modified countless Super Cubs for nearly 20 years. Don is especially proud of one Super Cub rebuild. It was featured in Smithsonian Air and Space Magazine, in an article, about fish spotting in Alaska, Jan. 1998
Don purchased ABC Mechanical from Dane Wagner (owner of Leading Edge Exhaust) in May 2007. ABC Mechanical had done aircraft exhaust repair and other specialized welding for over 25 years. Don changed the name to ABC Aircraft Welding, then moved on to Merrill Field.
ABC not only does aircraft exhaust and Super Cubs. We weld all alloys, can do production runs and have worked on many experimental aircraft. ABC has done a variety fabrication and welding projects: race cars, custom bikes, custom header projects, turbo ducting, exhausts for boats, fabricated fuel tanks of all kinds, fabricated buss work for high voltage substations, plus other welding and fabrication projects that can’t be mentioned in a public form.
ABC operates under a FAA 145 Repair Station and welds for many 135 and 121 operators. We also do AOG (Aircraft On Ground) work and damaged airplane retrieval. ABC is currently working towards a PMA and has some STC that we would like to pursue.
Thanks and I look forward to working with you,
Don | Owner ABC Aircraft Welding |
